Kansas CPC or PDH for Professional Engineers
Professional Development Hours (PDH) Requirements
Continuing education for licensed Professional Engineers in Kansas

Here is a summary of the engineering continuing education requirements mandated by the Kansas State Board of Technical Professionals.

Subject Requirement
Hours Required 30 hours biennially
Renewal Dates April 30 of even-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters A through L.
April 30 of odd-numbered years for licensees whose last name begins with one of the letters M through Z.
Board Approval The Board does not pre-approve providers or specific courses. Each engineer must determine whether an activity meets the Board’s requirements.
Approved Content No specific guidance or restrictions on course content are provided by the Board. However, they do define “continuing education activity” as “an activity that enhances a licensee’s level of technical, professional, managerial, or ethical competence in order to further the goal of protecting the health, safety, and welfare of the public” and further state that courses must have a “clear purpose and objective which will maintain, improve, or expand the skills and knowledge relevant to the licensee’s field of practice.”
Approved Activities Online continuing education courses are accepted provided the activity has a definable purpose and objective, the program is conducted by a person qualified in the subject area, and the licensee retains a record of registration and attendance. To meet these requirements, PDHengineer’s courses have published learning objectives and are provided by qualified subject matter experts. Our online certificate of completion serves as a record of attendance and completion.
PDH Carryover A maximum of 15 PDH may be carried forward into the next renewal period. If audited, you must provide full documentation of the carryover hours.
Notes
  1. PDH completion records must be maintained for a minimum of 4 years. PDHengineer helps you meet this requirement by providing you with the ability to instantly access and print a certificate upon successful completion of a course or webinar. Additionally, your certificates of completion are securely maintained by PDHengineer for a minimum of ten years and can be accessed online at any time through your login account.
